J. Maynard and scores of sorrowing friends followed the remains to their last resting place in the Portland cemetery. The Rev. D. E. Millard had charge of the service and his remarks were most impressive. He was assisted by Rev. Taylor of the Congregational church. The casket was almost hidden in a bower of flowers, that came from scores of friends. Orders for flowers were sent from friends as far as San Francisco. The family has received a copy of the resolutions adopted the Sorosis club, the woman’s organization of Oklahoma City, in which is paid a glowing tribute to the character and work of Miss Toan while in that city. Miss Toan had been planning to spend next summer in the Philippine Islands with Mrs. John R. Hanna. Mrs. Hanna was formerly Miss Rupert and went to Oklahoma City when Miss Toan first began her domestic science work there. Among those from out of two who came for the funeral were: Mrs. S. A. Miner, Owosso; G. H. Ellis, Grand Rapids; Mrs. G. L. Shaw, Muir; Miss Wilhemina Bates, Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cutler, Jr.; Miss Sue Townsend, Miss Elva Davis, Mrs. J. J. Green, Mrs. Clarence Wardell, Mrs. E. M. Davis, Ionia; Mesdames S. W. Webber, H. N. Willitt, E. S. Fuller and Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Hale, Lyons.
