July 14, 1982 GAYLA M. TOLLES HASTINGS - Mrs. Gaylia M. Tolles, 92, of Hastings, formerly of Lake Odessa, died July 11 at Hastings Provincial House. She was born on a farm near Lake Odessa on Oct. 16, 1889, the daughter of William and Lettie (Bretz) Curtis. She attended Odessa Center and lake Odessa schools, She was a member of Hastings First Presbyterian Church, WSCS, Pennock Hospital Guild member 19, and Charter member of the Lake Odessa Historical society. She married Allison Tolles on June 25, 1908. they lived in lake Odessa and Detroit before coming to Hastings in June of 1925. She and her husband owned and operated Tolles Poultry and egg Store in Hastings for over 25 years. She was late employed as a clerk at the Rose Dress Shop and Werner's Dress Shop in Hastings. Mr. Tolles died Oct. 23, 1965. Survivors include three daughters; Mrs. (Robert) Norma Deal of Petosky, Mrs. Geraldine Fox and Mrs. Margaret Schneider of Hastings; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Two brothers, Harold and Voight Curtis, preceded her in death. Funeral services were held July 14 from the Leonard-Osgood and Wren Funeral Home in Hastings. The Rev. Willard H. Curtis officiated. Burial was in Lakeside cemetery in Lake Odessa. Memorial contribution can be left at the funeral home for the First Presbyterian Church in Hastings.
