Tolles, 78 of Hastings passed away Saturday at his home, after a long period of ill health. A native of Cedar Creek, Barry county, his parents were Arthur and Ida Tolles. His parents moved to Lake Odessa when he was nine months old. he married Gaylia M.Curtis, June 25, 1908 and he worked in his father's general store until moving to Detroit in 1917 whee he worked for the Packard Motor co. for six years. then he returned to Lake Odessa where he worked for the Lake Odessa Produce Co. In 1925 they moved to Hastings and established a poultry and egg plant, trucking to the Detroit Wholesale and retail Market. The plant was destroyed by fire in 1930 after which Mr.Tolles started a cream station on S.Jefferson, retailing eggs and dressed poultry. He later worked in the office of the Standard Oil bulk plant until his health forced him to retire in 1962. Mr. and Mrs Tolles celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in June 1963. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs.Carl (Norma) Lake of Albion, Mrs.Keith (Geraldine) Fox of Hastings and Mrs. Linden (Margaret) Snyder of rural Woodland; four grandchildren and one great, grandson. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Sponable-Waldorff Funeral Home in Hastings, with burial in Lakeside, Lake Odessa, Rev. Willard Curtis officiated.
