January 8, 2026 Excerpts from Greenville Obituary MURELL "BOBO" TOMPKINS Died January 6, 2026-age 74 at Grand Rapids, MI. BoBo spent many years working in construction with the Granger Construction Company. As a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners Local 1004 in Lansing, he valued craftsmanship, skill and the bond shared among those who build things that last. He was an avid hunter & fisherman who appreciated patience & knowing when to stay quiet. He enjoyed Mushroom hunting,& found satisfaction tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. BoBo had a creative side. He was a talented wood carver, shaping simple pieces. His Koi pond was another source of price, feeding it daily. He often would be found going for a car ride with his loyal dog, Bella. He was helpful & generous, offering help without much talk or fuss. Survived by his wife, Katica; his children,Kate Rice & Lukas (Susan) Tompkins, two grandchildren; his brothers, Frank (Nellie)Tompkins & Bill (Lisa)Tompkins; several nieces & nephews; special friends,Darrell Way, Jamie Blum & Kevin McGowen; and his beloved dog, Bella. Preceded in death by his siblings, Jim Tompkins, Howard Tompkins, Roger Tompkins, Connie Fox & Carolyn Harris; his parents, Frank & Violet (Howard) Tompkins. No formal funeral ceremony will be held.
