His son, George Jr., who lived with him, saw the father topple over as he was stricken and saved him from falling onto the stove. He has been in poor health several years as the result of a previous stroke. Mr. Topp was of English parentage, but he was born in France after his parents and had started for America. When he was three weeks old his people continued the trip and took up land from the government in Boston and Berlin townships. The home was built in a Boston township and the rest of the farm is across the road in Berlin. This has always been Mr. Topp’s home. Both the Odd Fellow and the Masonic lodge claimed his membership and each gave him a great many honors. The Masonic lodge presented him with a life membership four years ago and the Odd Fellow lodge annually recognized his birthday, February 2, until he became too feeble to participate in the function. Besides the bachelor son at home, he leaves a son, James, in Berlin, and another, Charles of Gary, Ind. The funeral services will be held from the Congregational church Wednesday at 2 o’clock. The burial will be in Saranac. The services will be conducted by Rev. R. F. McFarlane.
