Lake Odessa Wave, 23 Apr 1970

Mrs. Glenn Torrey, 81, died unexpectedly at her home at 812 Sixth avenue about
5:45 a.m. Thursday.  A lifelong resident of the area she was born in Carlton
township of Barry county, September 25, 1888, a daughter of William and Margaret
Hecht Brooks.  

Mr. and Mrs. Torrey recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary March 9.
 The couple was married in Lake Odessa in 1910.  Mr. Torrey was formerly from
Flint.  She was a member of First Congregational church, Womens Fellowship,
Merry Social club, Jolly Dozens, and hospital guild 41.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn; four sons Charles of rural Mecosta,
Chalmer and Clair of Jackson, and Cecil of Lake Odessa; one daughter, Mrs. Irven
Burgess of Portland, 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.  Also
surviving are three brothers, Dewey Brooks, Lake Odessa, Charles of Woodland,
John of Okemos and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Studt of rural Lake Odessa.

Mrs. Torrey is at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa and services will be at
1:30 p.m. April 25, the Rev. Gary Lyons of the Congregational church
officiating.  Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
