Lake Odessa Wave-Thurs. July 4, 1974

Final Rites for Glenn A. Torrey
Glenn A. Torrey, 86, of Lake Odessa, died Wednesday of last week at Pennock Hospital
following an extended illness. He had been hospitalized eight days.

Born in Flint, December 10, 1887, he was the son of Francia and Ermina Dye Torrey.

March 9, 1910, he was married to Katie Brooks in Carlton township, Barry county, and
she died April 23, 1970.

He retired from farming in Odessa and Carlton townships in 1937 and moved to Lake 
Odessa. He  then became a fur buyer for twenty years until retiring several years
ago due to ill health.

He attended the Lake Odessa Congregation Church.

Surviving are aa daughter, Mrs. Marie Burgess of Portland; four sons, Charles of
Mecosta, Chalmer and Clair of Jackson and Cecil of Lake Odessa; a half brother, Clifton of
Flint; 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel
in Lake Odessa. Rev. Gary Evans officiated and interment was at Lakeside Cemetery.
