Services Held for Katie Torrey

Mrs. Katie Torrey, 81, passed away unexpectedly at her home early last Thursday 
morning.

She was born in Carlton township, September 25, 1888, daughter of William and 
Margaret (Hecht) Brooks and was a lifelong resident of the local area.

Mrs. Torrey was a member of the First Congregational Church, Women's Fellowship 
of the church, the Jolly Dozen, Merry Social Club and Hospital Guild No. 41, 
also a long time employee of the Lake Odessa Canning Co.

She married Glenn Torrey of Flint, March 9, 1910 and they celebrated their 60th 
Anniversary at their home this years.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Irven (Marie) Burgess of Portland; 
four sons, Chalmer and Clair of Jackson, Charles of Pretty Lake, near Mecosta, 
and Cecil of Lake Odessa; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three 
brothers, Dewey of Lake Odessa and Florida, Charles of Woodland and John of 
Okemos and a sister, Mrs.Elizabeth Studt of rural Lake Odessa.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel. Rev. 
Gary Lyons officiated with burial in Lakeside cemetery.
