The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, September 25, 1975

Mrs. Elva Tower, 89, of 216 State, Grand Rapids, died Wednesday morning at St. 
Mary’s hospital in Grand Rapids.  She had been a Belding resident 40 years.  
Born in Smyrna June 9, 1886, she was the daughter of Charles and Adelaide 
Joslin.  She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star 60 years and was 
presently a member of the Doric chapter.  

Her husband, Edward, died February 31, 1952.  Surviving is a sister, Mrs. 
Joyce Ashley of Belding.  

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Charles M. Courser funeral 
home at Belding.  Rev. W. D. Wood will officiate along with the Doric chapter 
of OES.  Interment will be at the Otisco cemetery.  Family members will be at 
the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Transcriber’s Note:  The husband’s death date is listed as February 31, 1952.  
Otisco cemetery records show a death/burial date of February 6, 1952.  Since 
February never has 31 days, it would be presumed his death date was January 
31, 1952, with burial being February 6, 1952.
