Tower, 76, a lifelong resident of Ionia, died Thursday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William B. Carpenter, of Ft. Atkinson, Wis., with whom he had been living for more than a year. He was the son of Osman S. Tower and was born in Ionia September 13, 1863. Mr. Tower was well known throughout the middle west as a traveling salesman. In the early ‘90’s he became identified with the American Steel and Wire company and traveled with them until about 1910 when he became identified with the Pittsburgh Steel company. He retired from active road work with the company about 1920. At one time Mr. Tower owned and operated a grocery store in Ionia in the Tower building. The body will arrive from Wisconsin Saturday afternoon. Funeral services are to be held from the Boynton funeral chapel on Rich street Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment will be at the Highland Park cemetery. Surviving is a son, Fred, of Ionia, and two sisters, Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. J.H. Jamison, of Richmond, Va. Rev. Henry A. Hanson of Grand Haven will officiate at the funeral services.
