Tower, aged 67 years, and a life-long resident of Ionia city, passed away on Friday, at the Blodgett Memorial hospital in Grand Rapids, where he underwent a surgical operation some three weeks before. He was ill at his rooms here, a short time before going to hospital, and his condition then was pronounced hopeless, the ailment being diagnosed as cancer of the stomach. Deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Osmond Tower, pioneer residents of Ionia who contributed greatly to the growth of the city in the early days, and whose property interests were large upon their decease. They were the parents of five sons: George, Warden, Osmond S., Angelo E. and James F., all now dead, and James F. being the last to go. James F. Tower leaves two sons, Dr. Elbert J. Tower, of Cedar Springs, Michigan, and Capt. Osmond H. Tower, who is in France. Deceased was a member of the Elks lodge here–his only fraternal connection. The remains will be brought here on Monday morning, and the funeral service will be attended at the Episcopal church.
