Ionia Sentinel August 28, 1972
Mrs. Maggie Towersey, 77, of Route 1, Ionia died Saturday evening at Grand 
Rapids osteopathic Hospital. Born March 25, 1895 in Gratiot County, she was the 
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Sanders. She had lived in Ionia County the past 
32 years residing the past year with a daughter, Mrs. Harvey Heppe of Orleans. 
She was a member of Lincoln Ave., Baptist Church of Ionia and its ladies 
missionary prayer band, Pleasant Hill literary club, blue Star mothers, and 
Philathea Sunday school class of the church. She was married to Sydney Towersey 
in 1914 and he died in 1963

Surviving our three daughters, Dorothy Towersey of Lansing, Shelby Towersey of 
Orleans and Mrs. Harvey Heppe of Orleans; five sons, James and Fred of Orleans, 
John Gerald and Sidney Junior, of Ionia; one brother, George Sanders of Ionia; 
12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 PM at Lincoln Ave., Baptist Church in 
Ionia. Rev. Lyall Shepard will officiate and internment will be at Wright 
cemetery near Alma. Mrs. Towersey will be at Stebbins funeral home at Sheridan 
until noon Tuesday.
