Belding Banner News, 14 May 1919

Electa L. Wilber was born in Lawerence, St. Lawerence Co., N.Y. January 15,
1843; died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Davis in Grattan, Kent Co.,
May 11, aged 76 years 3 months and 26 days.

She came to Michigan with her parents when a child.  Was married to Elisha Towne
March 3, 1861, who died April 16, 1873.  To this union were born five children,
of whom one Charles E. died in infancy.  There are left to mourn their loss,
four children, Richard, Chester, Mrs. Nellie VanLoten of Stanton and Mrs. Lizzie
Davis of Grattan, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and other
relatives and a host of friends.

She was converted in early life and joined the Free Methodist church at that
time, she was one of the pioneer mothers, after her husbands death she devoted
her life to her children making every sacrifice for their sake.  She passed away
on mother’s day after a well spent life. 

Sustained by an abiding faith she approached the grave like one who wraps the
drapery of their couch about them and lies down to pleasant dreams.
