Towne, 71, of Belding, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, Sept. 20, 2009, at his home. Albert was born Aug. 16, 1938, in Belding, the son of Walter and Mildred Johnson Towne. He was a member of the Belding VFW Post 4406 Men’s Auxiliary. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, doing woodwork and golf. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Albert was married on Sept. 3, 1957, in Belding to Sandra L. Haines, and she preceded him in death on April 10, 1999. Also preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Lewis Walter Towne; a brother, Richard Hoxie; and a sister Betty Spencer. Albert is survived by his children, Cindy and Mike Crysler, Becky Shepard and special friend Lonnie Yancer, all of Belding, Albert Towne of Crystal, Ross and Tracy Towne of Stanton, Shawn and Brian Hopkins of Sheridan; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Michael, Amos, Carmin, Tim, Bill, Dakota, Colten, Ross, Alicia, Trever, Shawna Marie, Brett, Brian and Stacey; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary L. Hoxie of Belding; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Private interment will follow in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the wishes of the family.
