The Portland Review, Thursday, January 2, 1947

Mrs. Callie Towner, 87, who had lived in Danby since a young lady died at her 
home near Basswood corners Tuesday morning.  She was born in Bengal township, 
Clinton county.  Her husband, Thomas Towner, died eight years ago.

Funeral services will be held at Bandfield Funeral home on Friday at 2:00 p.m. 
and burial will be in Danby cemetery.  Rev. Richard Riffle will officiate and 
bearers will be Peter Robertson, Herbert Jameson, Hal Hendee, Chester Hair, 
Kenneth Jameson, Lee Hendee.

Mrs. Towner had been a member of Portland Baptist church for many years, and 
was one of the oldest Grangers in years of membership in this section.
