Frank W. Townsend, 85, died at his home in North Plains township Wednesday noon 
after a short illness.  He was born in New York State December 2, 1861, but has 
lived most of his life in Lyons township.  He was one of the county’s pioneer 
lumbermen and was formerly Lyons township road commissioner for many years.  
His wife died October 1946.

Surviving him are two sons, Frank and Claude at home; one daughter, Mrs. Hector 
Gee of Muir; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Fred 
of Lyons; and one sister, Mrs. Homer Gee of Lansing.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21, at 2 p.m. at Muir Presbyterian 
church with Dr. Paul Stewart officiating.  Interment will be in Lyons cemetery.

His bearers will be his nephews, Albert Townsend, Harry Townsend, Elmer Wood, 
Howard Townsend, Maxwell Townsend and Dale Townsend.
