Ionia Sentinel – Monday, 11 February 1924
Within the past 12 days death has entered the family of Andrew C. Townsend 
claiming as its second victim his beloved wife who died at her home in Orange 
Township Sunday evening at 10 o’clock.  The cause of her death was given as 
heart trouble.  She was taken ill while preparing breakfast Sunday morning.  
Mrs. Townsend was 71 years of age and was born in Ontario county, O., but has 
lived in this county twenty years.

The death of her daughter, Mrs. Glenn Sprague, occurred 12 days ago, January 
30, when Mrs. Sprague gave birth to her eighth son.  Besides her husband Mrs. 
Townsend is survived by five children, Mrs. Earl Benedict of Muir; Mrs. Ruth 
Sible of Flint; Mrs. Emma Reeder, Clifford Townsend and Lynn Townsend, all of 
Orange.

The funeral will be held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, sun 
time.
