Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 24 Aug 1956

Claude D. Townsend, 61, died Thursday, August 23.  He was born May 17, 1895, 
near Pewamo in Lyons township, the son of Frank and Abbie Townsend and spent 
all his life in Ionia county.

Surviving are his sister, Mrs. Hector Gee of Muir, one brother, Frank Townsend 
of North Plains township and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, August 27, at 2 o’clock at 
the Muir Presbyterian church and interment will be in the Lyons cemetery.  The 
body will be at the Shaw-Rivett funeral home in Muir until time of services.
