The Portland Observer, Thursday, January 31, 1952

Mrs. Allie Townsend, 69, passed away at her home on Grant St. last Friday 
morning.  Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Neller Funeral Home, 
Rev. Keith Avery officiating.  Burial was in Portland cemetery.

Mrs. Townsend and her husband Ross, had moved to the village from their farm 
south of the Monroe school only a few weeks ago.  The couple observed their 
golden wedding anniversary on Sept. 25, 1951.  Before moving to the farm in 
Eagle township, they resided in Danby township.

Surviving in addition to the husband are a daughter, Mrs. Gerald Shindorf, of 
route 1, Lyons, and a son, Forrest, of Portland; sisters, Mrs. Floyd Rousch, 
of Clarksville, and Mrs. Fay Batchelder, of Grand Rapids; brothers, Ernest 
Reed, Earl Reed, James Reed, Walter Reed and Ray Reed, all of Lake Odessa.  
There are four grandchildren.

Bearers were Earl Spaulding, Larry Townsend, William Dutcher and Tom Allen.
