The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, March 13, 1993

Albert A. Townsend, 75, of Harrison, died Friday at Ionia County Memorial 
Hospital. He was born January 19, 1918, in Pewamo, the son of Emmett and 
Lavancha Inghram Townsend.  

He attended rural schools and served in World War II.  He retired from Ionia 
State Hospital as a nurse-guard, after 29 ½ years of service.  He did roofing 
and eves trough work.   He married June Nelson in 1943.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Robert of Lyons; four daughters, Joyce 
Hardenburg of Mason, Shirley Daggett of Saranac, and Linda Syrjala and Ilene 
Barclay of Ionia; two brothers, Harry of Chippewa Lake and Weston of Ionia; 
two sisters, Iva Noble of Owosso and Mary Esham of Ionia; 23 grandchildren; 39 
great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.  He was preceded in 
death by one sister.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, at Hull Memorial Chapel, Muir, with 
the Rev. Larry Frye officiating.  The family will be at the funeral home from 
7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  Burial will be in the Tuttle Cemetery, 
Ionia.
