Dec. 31, 1925 DEATH TAKES ANOTHER WELL KNOWN LADY MRS. HENRY TOWNSEND DIES IN GRAND RAPIDS HOSPITAL TUESDAY MORNING SPENT WHOLE LIFETIME IN THIS COMMUNITY Funeral Will Be Held From Methodist Church At Two O’clock Thursday Afternoon The death of Mrs. Henry Townsend, aged 63 years, occurred at Blodgett hospital, Grand Rapids, Tuesday morning, where she was taken two weeks ago in the hopes of regaining her health which had been poor for some time. Funeral services will be held from the Portland Methodist church, Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, in charge of Rev. Leo Niles. Burial will be made in Portland cemetery. Mrs. Townsend was formerly Miss Ella Tubbs. She was born in Lyons township in 1862. In 1878 she was united in marriage to Mr. Townsend spending her entire life-time in this vicinity. In 1898 they came to Portland making their residence in this village until two years ago when they moved to their farm on the Danby-Sebewa town-line. Besides the husband she is survived by four children; Ross Townsend, of Danby; Mrs. Earl Reed, of Lake Odessa; Mrs. George H. Allen and Stewart Townsend, of Portland. The following brothers and sisters also survive; Mrs. Dora Hamler, of Lyons; Mrs. Louis Dandrezer and Mrs. George Dick, of Lansing; Miss Bessie Tubbs and Herbert Tubbs, of Portland, and Floyd Tubbs, of Lyons.
