Mrs. Kathryn Townsend, 97, of 128 W. St., Woodland died Thursday morning at 
Provincial House, Hastings where she had been a patient for eight years.  

She was born November 23, 1881 in Portland, Ind., daughter of Lewis and 
Susannah Blocher Oaks.  She attended school in Portland, Ind. She married Otto 
Townsend September 20, 1909 in Woodland who preceded her in death September 14, 
1961.  Mrs. Townsend was a member of Coats Grove United Brethren church.

Surviving are three sons, Garnett Townsend of Kalamazoo; Ralph Townsend of 
Woodland; Franklin Townsend of Alto; twelve grandchildren; 26 great 
grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Pheobe Byers of Hastings.

Funeral services will be at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa, 
Saturday at 2 p.m.  Pastor Brent Zumbrum will officiate.  Burial will be in 
Woodland Memorial Park.
