JONATHON TOWNSEND 1944-2017
Jonathon (J.T.) Charles Townsend, aged 72 of Ionia, passed away Sept. 24, 
2017. He was born Sept. 26, 1944 in St. Johns, the son of John and Violet 
Faith (Harnick) Townsend.

Jonathon married the love of his life, his soulmate, Sandra (Sambox) Strong 
on Jan. 31, 1970 in Lansing.

He was a loving and dedicated teacher at Ionia High School for 33 years and 
sold real estate for 15 years.

He was a member of the Ionia educational Association.

Jonathon is survived by his loving wife of 7 1/2 years, Sandra Townsend; 
children, Jonathon David (Tammy) Townsend and Ashley Bryn (Brenda) Townsend; 
grandchildren, Michael Switala, Caleb hare, Morgan Townsend, Jaclyn Townsend 
and Allison Townsend; brothers, Byron (Ruth) Townsend, Larry (Nancy) 
Townsend. Chris Moss and Tom Moss; sister, LeAnne Morford; and his best 
friend, his Boston Terrier, Sadie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, David Thor Townsend.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday Sept 28, at 11 a.m. at Lake Funeral 
Home in Ionia with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Visitation will be 
Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
