Townsend Born April 21, 1926 on a Michigan farm, son of Ray & Sarah Townsend. Died January 1, 2016-age 89 at Sacramento, Calif. Married High School sweetheart Mildred Goward, Feb. 26, 1946 in Ionia, Mich. and shared 62 years together. Served in Army Air Corp during WWW II. Returned to farming. As a young adult he contacted Polio, was hospitalized for over a year. Enrolled in collage on the GI bill, Graduated Michigan State University, became a high school teacher, first in Agricultural for 10 years, then a special Education teacher. Moved from Wisconsin to Calif. where he & his wife taught Special Education for 20 years. He also coached football & worked as H&R Block tax preparer. Retired from teaching, worked as a staff assistant at Townsend Raimundo Besler & Usher in Sacramento, Calif. for 20 years. His son David's consulting firm. Emery and Mildred had three boys & adopted four girls. Survived by their children, David, Bruce, George, Lynda, Beth, Renee and Jennifer and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A celebration of Life will be Saturday April 16, 2016 at Crocker Art Museum's Historical Ballroom from 4-7 p.m. Emery's favorite charities were "Gleanings for the Hungry, A Ministry of Youth with a Mission", and "The National World War II Museum."
