The Ionia Standard, Friday, December 4, 1896
Joseph Townsend, a prominent farmer of near Pewamo, died Monday at 11 
o’clock.  Mr. Townsend has resided at his present home for thirty years, and 
was highly esteemed by his fellow citizens.  Funeral services was held at the 
farm home Wednesday.
