In 1846, with his parents he came to Michigan and settled on the farm where he was living at the time of his death. October 30, 1878 he as united in marriage to Miss Martha Carter. To this union were born two children, Mrs. Lulu M. Elvert of Muir, and Charles Townsend, who with their mother, also a brother and five sisters, and many relatives and friends, are left to mourn his death. For the pat two years Mr. Townsend has been confined to his home in ill health. Mr. Townsend was a Christian and in passing to his reward, left a bright evidence of going to the better land where no sickness, no pain, no sorrow ever comes. The funeral services were held at the LeValley M. E. church in Orange, at 11 a.m. Sunday, February 14, Rev. E. E. Sprague, officiating. Card of Thanks: We wish to thank our kind friends and neighbors who aided us during the sickness and at death of our husband and father. Especially to Rev. Sprague for his comforting words and to the singers who sang his favorite hymns. We also thank the W. F. M. S. A. O.O.G., the members of the church, and his friends for the beautiful flowers.
