Train, former Ionian, a resident of Edmore, died at the home of his daughter in Lansing last week. He conducted a drayage business here one time and kept a boarding house, being well known to a large number of the older residents of this county. His funeral was held at Edmore and was attended by a large number of Elks of this city, of which lodge he was an active member. In the party attending the obsequies were: Henry F. Voelker, Thane Benedict, Asa Burnett, Fred Howard, William Winchell, Earl Wright, Herbert Brunn, J. H. Hemingway, Al Tuttle. Mr. Train was former postmaster of Edmore and active in the fraternal orders, such as the B.P.O.E., L.O.O.M., I.O.O.F. and G.A.R. He was a Civil war veteran and was a member of the Soldiers’ Home at Grand Rapids for some time. He was born in Stephen county, Indiana, in 1847, and with his parents came to Cass county when a month old. He resided there for 16 years, when he joined the army, September 11, 1863, and was honorably discharged August 20, 1865. He moved from Cass county to Barry county and wad married on Thanksgiving day of 1865. In 1871 he moved to Ionia and engaged in the dray business and conducted a boarding house.
