Mrs. Tran’s death followed two weeks after she had suffered a severe stroke. Funeral services were in charge of Rev Robert Reynhout, and bearers were Dale Pierce, Charles Helms, Joseph DeGroft, and Robert Brooks. Burial was in Portland cemetery. Mrs. Tran was born in Elyria, O., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Urie, and came to this vicinity when a young girl. Here she married Mathew Tran, in 1885, and the couple had lived in this vicinity most of thier married life. Mr. Tran died in June, 1942. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Robert Button, Greenville; Mrs. Roy Winslow, Ionia; and Mrs. Roy Stiffler, Portland; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. There is also one brother, William Urie, of Mulliken. Mrs. Tran had been a resident of the village for 37 years.
