Nov. 25, 2008 Raymond C. “Ray” Trann, 91, of Smyrna, died Sunday afternoon Nov. 23, 2008 at home under the loving care of his family and Heartland Hospice. Ray was born on June 25, 1917 in Portland, the son of Miles and Neva Covert Trann. He graduated from Portland High School with the class of 1934 and later proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was the Fabrication Superintendent at Gibson’s in Greenville retiring in 1979 after 40 years of service. Ray was a charter member of the Smyrna Bible Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 203 of Belding and of the Friendship Club of Smyrna. He enjoyed fishing and walks in the woods. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Ray is survived by his children, Judy Hysell, Doug (Terrie) Trann and Dan (Regina) Trann, all of Smyrna; stepchildren, Ken (Ruth) Stiffler and Bertie Lou (David) Pitchford, all of Eagle; his grandchildren, Eric (Kathy) Hysell, Donald (Liz) Hysell, Mark Hysell, Amy Hoople, Doug (Lora) Trann, Benjamin Trann, Bill Trann, Elizabeth (Joe) Adams, Mary (Jason) Waddel, Matthew Trann, Lucas Trann, Rev. John (Lisa) Miller, Steve Miller, Terri Lee and Jake Regala; 25 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents; one brother; two sisters; his daughter, Linda Miller in 1976; great-granddaughter, Keeley Ann Hughes in 1987; son, Duane Trann in 1989; first wife, Evelyn Mason in 1994; grandson, Randy Hysell in 1999; son, George Trann in 2006 and his second wife, Dorothy Stiffler in 2007. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Smyrna Bible Church with Pastor Darwyn Hassert and Ray’s grandson, Rev. John Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to Smyrna Bible Church or Belding Library.
