TRAUTMAN Mr.George F. Trautman, 92, of Bloomfield Hills, and formerly of Ionia, passed away on Dec. 21, 2000, at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Pontiac. He was born May 5, 1908, in Ostego, the son of C.F. and Francis (Mesick) Trautman. He was educated in his early years in Ostego, moved to Elkhart, Ind., & graduated from Elkhart High School. He attended Western Michigan University & graduated with a teaching degree. He was as active participant in its track program.He taught in Saugatuck for three years & also at East Detroit High School. George became an insurance agent with Michigan Mutual where he remained for 38 years, retiring in 1973. He was married to the former Ethel A.Howard on Aug. 23, 1932, in Kent County & she survives. The couple moved from Ionia in 1998 to Bloomfield Hills. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Ionia, a member of the Roseville Masonic Lodge#522, an associate member of Lodge#36,Ionia, F & AM, a former member of East Detroit Kiwanis where he served as President, past President & LT. Gov. for District #2 and of East Pointe as a County Commissioner in Macomb County & was a trustee for Ionia Memorial Hospital for seven years. Mr. Trautman is survived by his wife, Ethel; one daughter, Jeanne Mirando of Williamsport, Penn.; one son, Michael(Carole)Trautman of Bloomfield Hills; four grandchildren, Gregg Mirando, Andrea Dittmore Cara Trautman & Philip Trautman. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Trautman of Elkhart,Ind. Cremation has taken place with a memorial service to be held at a later date.Cook Funeral Home, Ionia is in charge of the arrangements.
