Oct. 28, 2008 Gerald Travis, age 66, passed away at his home in rural Hubbardston on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, with his family by his side. He was born July 21, 1942, in Saginaw, Mich. and was adopted at the age of 2 by Sidney and Molly (Ryle) Travis. He grew up in the Crystal area and was a member of the last graduating class of Crystal High School. He married Cheri Sible on June 19, 1965, in Hubbardston. Gerald worked for TRW in Portland for 31 years. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He loved Western movies, woodcrafting, camping, fishing and putting puzzles together. He was also an avid Detroit Red Wings fan. His family was very important to him. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Cheri; 3 daughters, Cindy (Allan) Vest of Clinton Township, Julie Travis and fiancé Eric Brown of Ovid and Sara (Chad) Roberts of Greenville; five grandchildren, Damien, Logan, Connor, Kaylee and Nathan; 1 brother-in-law, Dr. Glenn (Beth) Sible; 1 sister-in-law, Eloyce (Gary) Lehman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister-in-law, Yvonne McLeod. As per Gerald’s request, no memorial service will be held. Contributions may be made in his memory to Carson Hospice.
