Ionia Sentinel Standard, 7 Nov 2003

Velnie C. Travis, 88, of Ionia, passed away November 6, 2003 at Cumberland Manor
in Lowell.  She was born September 30, 1915 in Ionia, the daughter of Camlin and
Clytie (Harris) DeArmond.  She married Cecil Travis, August 14, 1936, who
preceded her in death in 1972.  She was active with Zion United Methodist
Church.  She was a member of D.K.G. and Ionia Hospital Guild

She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Roger) VanVleck of Saranac, Martha
(Steve) Bush of Ionia; sisters, Cenchel (David) Hedrick of Florida, Esther
(William) Vermilya of California; grandchildren, Becky (John) DeVito, Amy (Jim)
Barry; great grandchildren, Jaron, Brenton and Tanner.  She was preceded in
death by two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 10, 2003 at Lake Funeral Home in
Ionia with Rev. Donald Graham officiating.  Interment Sunset Memorial Park.  The
family will receive friends and relatives Saturday 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and
Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution to
Ionia Public Schools and/or the Alzheimer’s Association.
