The floral testimonials were also numerous and beautiful, the most striking perhaps being the bunch of American Beauty roses contributed by the Elks. The Maccabees also sent a large circle of roses. The service was according to the ritual of the Episcopal church, without sermon, than which nothing can be more appropriate or impressive. Rev. Mr. Blunt officiated, assisted by Chaplain Mendenhall. The physicians of the city were present in a body, Drs. Ogden, Marsh, Allen and Defendorf acting as pallbearers. Mrs. Peer, Mrs. Spencer, Misses VanVliet and Gibsone and Mr. Lawrence Smith, with Miss Colton as organist, furnished the music.
