Pewamo friends have been informed of the passing at Flint on Tuesday, April 
28, of Mrs. Della Triphagen, for many years a resident of that village where 
her husband at one time was engaged in business.  The death of Mrs. Triphagen 
occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nicholas Hauck with whom she had 
made her home since leaving Pewamo.

The deceased, who celebrated her 87th birthday anniversary in March was 
apparently in her usual good health until two or three days preceding her 
death.  On Monday preceding her death she was active about the affairs of the 
home but after dinner complained of  pain and a physician was summoned who 
pronounced it pneumonia.  In spite of every care she passed away at 1:30 the 
following morning.

Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hauck on Friday 
afternoon, burial being made at Gaines.  Mrs. Triphagen was a cousin of Mrs. 
Ella Taft, a one time a resident of Pewamo where Mr. Taft conducted a general 
store.

In many ways Mrs. Triphagen was a remarkable woman.  Widowed early in her 
married life with a daughter to support, she courageously took up the battle 
of life and made a home for herself and little one.  Following the marriage of 
the daughter, Mrs. Triphagen went with them to live, never asking others to do 
her share of the burdens of the household, but always carrying on despite 
advancing years.  She was of that rare type of womanhood that makes and keeps 
life long friendships, and it is said that whenever she appeared at any 
gathering she added much to its pleasure by her inimitable charm.
