Unidentified Publication, 1919

Elisha Trowbridge, son of Wm. and Martha Trowbridge was born in England and
departed this life, Oct. 30, 1919, aged about 90 years.  He left England with
his father’s family in 1845 and came to Canada where they lived 7 years when he
accompanied by his father and mother came to Ionia, Michigan where they lived
for about two years, after which coming to Campbell township, where he settled
on the farm on which he spent the remainder of his life with the exception of
about eleven years which he spent in Clarksville.

He was married about 1854 to Mary Koutz who died in 1860, to this union were
born one daughter, Mrs. Phylinda Gross of Grante Pass, Oregon.  He married again
to Marion Barbara Koutz who departed this life 1894.  To this union was born two
children Miss Jennie E. Rosenberger and Vernon E. Trowbridge.  In 1901 he was
married to Mrs. Hannah J. Hickory, who died in 1912.  After her death he
returned to the old home to live with his son and family.

In the winter of 1894 he joined the M. M. Church at Clarksville of which he was
a member at his death.  His life was one of active Christian service, his
interests were always with the cause of Christ and his constant prayer in his
last days was for the salvation of the lost.  His last words were: Jesus is my
all in all.  There is nothing between me and my Lord.

Two children, Mrs. George Gross and Vernon E. are left, Mrs. Jennie E. Rosen
Heiger having preceded him in death about four years ago.  There are also four
grand children and three great grand children and a host of relatives and
friends are left to mourn.
