Trumbell, D.D.S., 86, of Saranac, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2005 at Cumberland Manor, Lowell. Born June 10, 1919 in Owosso, he was the son of Albert and Lillie (O’Brien) Trumbell. He graduated from Benzonia High School and furthered his education at Grand Rapids Junior College, Wayne Tech, and the University of Michigan where he received his DDS Degree. Following the invasion of Pearl Harbor during WWII, he enlisted in the US Navy. Already a pilot, he was transferred to the Naval Air Corps and stationed at the Panama Canal Zone. After the war Dr. Trumbell operated a private dental clinic in Ionia and also practiced at the Ionia State Hospital and Ionia Correctional Facility. Harry was an avid golf enthusiast who enjoyed playing and discussing the game as well as watching professional golfers on TV. His wonderful sense of humor and ability to make others laugh will long be remembered and appreciated by those who knew him. He maintained many friendships and was highly respected by his former patients. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Virginia (Poff) Trumbell, whom he married May 7, 1977; 2 step-daughters, 4 step-sons, and many step-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, first wife (Seraphina), step-son (Jack Bertucci), 3 brothers (Emory, Albert and Wayne Trumbell); 3 nieces and 1 nephew. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Saranac, with Father George Fekete officiating. Interment will follow in Benzonia Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., including a Scripture Service at 6 p.m., at the Lake Funeral home, Saranac. Memorial to Hospice of Home, Alzheimer’s Association or St. Anthony’s Catholic Church would be appreciated.
