Tubbs, of Orange, who died last week in his 49th year, was born in New York and removed to Ionia county while a boy. He enlisted in the 27th Michigan infantry, and was taken prisoner at the battle of the Wilderness in 1864, and for several months endured the horrors of southern prisons. Paroled in December, he came home in an emaciated condition, and has ever since been troubled with congestion of the heart. He was buried on Friday by his comrades of Camp No. 2 of the union prisoners of war.
