Tubbs, on Monday drew out expressions of the most widefelt sympathy and bereavement from our citizens. The deceased, who was 18 years of age, had retired to bed the previous evening feeling as well as usual. Not getting up a breakfast time the family supposed she was sleeping and failed to disturb her. About 9 o’clock, however, her older sister Mary went to her room, and noticing her feet protruding from under the bed-covering thought it a little strange. She stepped beside the bed and saw at once from the pallor which had overspread Nellie’s features that she was either dead or unconscious. The alarm was given to the other members of the family, and a physician was immediately summoned. All efforts to resuscitate life were of no avail, and the attending physician declared that she had been dead some time before discovered. Her funeral took place on Wednesday evening, and was largely attended. Rev. A.S. Hale preached a very beautiful and touching sermon. Nellie had never been a strong girl, and for several years was confined to the house with sickness. But her parents were led to believe of late that she was recovering, and would eventually gain complete health. The immediate cause of her death is supposed to have been heart disease. She was naturally a bright, winsome girl, and was much esteemed by her associates. Her relatives sustain a very sad blow in her unfortunate death. [Transcriber's Note: There is a notation on the obituary card that she was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery.] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/t/tubbs5988gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/mifiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
