The Ionia County News, Thursday, April 15, 1943


Allen Tubbs, three and a half year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Tubbs, Lansing, 
who was burned to death Tuesday, when the home where he was staying with his 
aunt, Mrs. Ruth May, was destroyed by fire, was a grand-nephew of Frank Dewitt 
of Lyons, employed at the County News office.  

The boy’s father had just returned to his naval base after a furlough spent at 
his home in Lansing, and Mrs. Tubbs had accompanied him leaving the children 
with her sister.  Mrs. May’s daughter, Joyce Ann, 6, was also burned to death 
in the fire.
