Her death after long months of suffering occurred Wednesday April 9, aged 54 years. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Luick and was born at the old farm three miles west of Belding, November 13, 1858. At the age of 18 years she began teaching school and she taught several terms of district school in this vicinity. She possessed a gentle, kind and generous disposition and was ever ready and anxious to lend a helping hand to those unfortunately sick or in distress. Her life was filled with kindly deeds which will be remembered and cherished as long as memory exists. She tried to follow where she believed duty called and her sterling character and noble womanhood won for her the esteem and respect of all who knew her. On August 9, 1878, she was married to Mr. Levi F. Tuttle, who, with one son, Harry, are left to mourn the loss of an affectionate wife and fond mother. She is survived by her mother Mrs. John Luick of this city, and by three brothers and four sisters, as follows: David S. Luick, of Luther; Frank J. and Henry H. Luick, Mrs. Rose Parks, Mrs. May Gore and Mrs. Emma Brown, all of Belding, and Mrs. Etta DeVries, of Grand Rapids. In February, 1894, Mrs. Tuttle united with the Ashley Baptist church, and in March, 1898, she withdrew from that church and united with the Belding Baptist church, where she remained a devoted member until her death. She was a valued member of the Eastern Star lodge, the Degree of Honor lodge, and the Good Fellowship club.
