She was daughter of E. B. Post one of the oldest pioneers of Ionia county. When she was 14 years of age she was converted at Cook’s Corners in the protracted meetings which were being held by Rev. A. P. Moors ( Now presiding elder of the Ionia district). In the year 1871 she was united in marriage to Jay A. Tuttle to whom she proved a devoted and loving wife. There was born to them one child, a son, in 1872. There could not have been found a more happy family than theirs. There were no harsh, nor hard feelings, nothing but sweet and kind words ever passed their lips. Hence it can be truly said that love reigned in that household. But alas! How soon to be broken. In 1881 Little Eddie was called home. The only comfort that the stricken parents seemed to have was in their Savior, and the hope of meeting him on the other shore. About one year ago Mrs. Tuttle’s health began to fail her and at last it was found that that most dreadful disease of consumption had made her his victim. Her last sickness although suffering greatly was born with the same meek spirit as had characterized her whole life. At last, after bidding her friends a long farewell, she dropped into that last and sweet sleep on January 6th, as before stated. Her funeral was largely attended on Sunday the 8th, at Green’s Church. In dear Nelia, we always found a chrisitan neighbor and a most affectionate friend. To her kind husband and other relatives we extend our heartfelt sympathy and leave them in the care, of the dear Heavenly Father who is a friend to the friendless. Peace to her memory.
