She came with her parents to Michigan when five years old and they lived north of Hubbardston near the county corners. When Mrs. Tyler came to Matherton there was one house in Hubbardston and one in Matherton, the rest was all woods. In 1872 she was married to Theodore Tyler. To this union was born six children: Mrs. Harry Cory of Grand Ledge; Mrs. George Chick of Hubbardston; Warren, Marly and Mark of Detroit. Another son, Ernest, died when he was five years old. Nine grandchildren and two great-daughters besides a host of friends mourn their loss. Deceased was the last of the Newland family. The funeral was held Sunday July 23, at two o’clock at Matherton M. E. church. Rev. F. N. Drake officiated and burial was in the East Plains cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. William Wood of Belding attended the funeral Sunday of Mr. Wood’s aunt, Mrs. Lois Tyler.
