Tyler was born in the state of New York, October 14, 1859, and died at the home of his son, Revard Tyler, in Ionia, December 6, 1935. His age was 76 years, 1 month and 22 days. When but a small child he came with his people to Gratiot county, Michigan. His first marriage was to Miss Cary Kenfield, to whom were born two sons; Ray, now of Ionia, and Albert, who was adopted out and took the name of Warner, now of Hubbardston. This wife died in 1892. In 1902 he was married to Hattie Belle Ricker, and to them four children were born: Arthur of Pewamo, Revard of Ionia, Mrs. Leone Peoples and Mrs. Lucille Pike both of Ionia. For about 35 years, Mr. Tyler and his wife, Hattie, lived in Matherton where their children were born. They both became members of the Matherton Methodist church. Mrs. Tyler died in 1924. Since that time Mr. Tyler lived in Ionia. Besides his six children he is survived by one brother, Lyman Tyler of Flint, to step sons, one step daughter, and 13 grandchildren. The funeral service was held at the Matherton Methodist church, Rev. Chas. Glass officiating, assisted by the pastor, Rev. Floyd N. Drake?. The burial was in the East Plains cemetery.
