Harry S. Udell, 77, died at his home at. 1067 West Main street Saturday, 
January 26, at 7 p.m. after a week's illness.

He was born in Ionia January 20, 1875, son of B.L. and Mary Udell, old Ionia 
pioneers and owners of an Ionia grocery store for many years. He lived in 
Ionia for 52 years. During that time he was employed for 38 years by the 
former Railroad Manufacturing company, and for five years by his successor 
the Ionia Desk company, until his retirement in 1940.

He was a former member of the L.O.O.M. and the B.P.O.E. and was a member of 
the Methodist church in Kearney, Neb. He married Elizabeth Boyle at Omaha, 
Neb., July 27, 1899 and they celebrated their golden wedding two years ago.

Surviving are the wife; two sons, Gerald of Walled Lake and LeRoy of Ionia: 
three grandchildren, John Udell of Ionia and Robert Udell and Mrs. Betsy 
Miller of Walled Lake: one great-grandchild, Cindy Miller, of Walled Lake: 
and a sister, Mrs. E.B. Franklin of Grover Colo.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Boynton funeral 
home. Dr. Howard A. Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Tuttle 
cemetery.

The family has requested that flowers be limited.
