The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, March 2, 1955


Matthias Ulrich, 86, died Monday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Andrew 
Breimayer, Route 1, Belding.  He was born October 28, 1868, in Westphalia, the 
son of Peter and Anna Ulrich.

A former Ionia resident, Mr. Ulrich was a guard at the Ionia State Hospital 
until his retirement in 1940 when he went to live with his daughter.  He was a 
member of St. Mary’s church at Miriam and a member of the Ionia Moose Lodge.

Surviving are three daughters, Miss Margaret and Miss Leona Ulrich both at 
Grand Rapids and Mrs. Breimayer, and seven grandchildren.

The body reposes at the Breimayer home where Rosary will be recited Wednesday 
evening at 8 o’clock.  Funeral mass will be sung Thursday morning at 10 o’clock 
by the Rev. Fr. Charles Steves at St. Mary’s church.  Interment will be at Mt. 
Olivet cemetery in Ionia.
