Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 8 May 1950

The body of Sgt. Melvin E. Unger, jr., who died recently in Japan, will arrive 
here from the Far East Sunday at 1:55 p.m.  Funeral services will be Monday at 
3:30 p.m. from the Myers funeral home.  Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery.  
The Rev. Howard Johnson will officiate.  The Ionia American Legion Post will have 
charge of military services.  Frank Wirtz will blow taps.  Sgt. Unger is survived 
by his mother, Ms. Norma A. Rivett and his father, Melvin Unger, sr.
