Mrs. Anna Loretta Updike, aged 91, passed away at the home of her daughter and 
son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. R.L. Tinkham, at their summer home at Long Lake, 
Tuesday, Sept. 3.  She was born Anna Loretta Schafer at Reading, Pa., and came 
to Michigan when she was 13 years old, residing in Wexford county until 1908 
when she came to Belding where she has since resided.  She was married to Mars. 
L. Updike in 1883.  He passed away in 1930.

She leaves two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Edna) Poe, of Ypsilanti, 
Mrs. R.L. (Helena) Tinkham of Grand Rapids, Wallace and Harold of Storey Rd.; 
11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 o’clock at Fitzjohn Funeral Home 
with Rev. Luther Brokaw, her pastor, officiating and the burial will be in 
Otisco cemetery.
