Ionia Sentinel Standard
David Lee Upton, 12, of 935 Fuller, Lyons, died early Thursday morning at Carson 
City hospital following an extended illness.  He was a leukemia victim.  Born 
July 29, 1961, at Ft Belvoir, Va., he was a son of Joseph and Doris Whittaker 
Upton and came to Lyons in 1965.  He attended Twin Rivers elementary school in 
Muir and entered the seventh grade at Ionia junior high school in September.  He 
was active with the Cub and Boy Scouts of Lyons and Muir and played Ionia Little 
League this summer.

Surviving are the parents; three brothers, Erik, Joseph and Jason and a sister, 
Jody, all at home; maternal grandparents, Mr and Mrs John Whittaker of Richmond, 
Ky., and paternal grandparents, Mr and Mrs Charles Upton of Fowler.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Hull Memorial chapel in Muir.
