Portland Review
Shirley J. Urie, 74, of 645 Market St., Portland, died Jan 15, 1989, at a 
Lansing hospital.  Mrs. Urie was born on June 30, 1914, in Portland, the 
daughter of Frank and Effie (Reynolds) Gilbert.  She was a member of the VFW 
Auxiliary.  She had managed Jean’s Restaurant in Portland for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Grover; one son, Robert of Portland; two 
daughters, Mrs. Keith (Beverly) Strand of Eaton Rapids and Mrs. Donald (Sally) 
Burnette of Fr. Myers, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one 
brother, Frank Gilbert of Wilmington, N. C.; one sister, Dorothy Judd of 
Portland; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were Jan. 18 at Neller Funeral Home, Portland, with the Rev. Donald 
Chapel officiating.  Interment was in Portland Cemetery.  Pallbearers were her 
grandsons.
