Mrs. Carrie Pierce Utess, 73 years of age, died at the residence , 725 West
Lincoln avenue, Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock.  She was born in 1860, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Munn, of New York state, and was married to Caleb Pierce 25
years ago, who died at their home on the State road.  In 1928 she was married to
John Utess, of Ionia.  Mrs. Utess was a member of the GAR and the Beatrice
Rebekah lodge.

She is survived by her husband, John Utess, and two sons, Ernest C. Pierce, of
Sheboygan, Wis., and J.C. Pierce, of Grand Rapids.

Funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Myers
funeral home, with Rev. Paul Stewart officiating, and interment at the Oak Hill
cemetery.
